The Northern California Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) awards scholarships to minority undergraduate students; sophomores, juniors and seniors.

COMTO was founded 30 years ago to advocate for minorities in the transportation industry, to provide assistance with their careers and to assist those seeking careers in the transportation industry.

COMTO also advocates for minority students who want to pursue careers in the transportation industry. We help them by providing scholarships, internships and mentoring. 2011 is the seventh year that COMTO will award scholarships.

Since 2004 COMTO has awarded $147,000 in scholarships to 116 deserving students. Every year the COMTO Scholarship Committee reaches out to college communities and resource organizations throughout the Bay Area to recruit applicants who want to pursue careers in transportation. We are seeking applicants that are majoring in fields that would support their career interest in the transportation industry, such as engineering, urban planning, economic, finance, communications, etc.

COMTO needs your help with informing minority students about COMTO scholarships. Applications can be downloaded from the COMTO website, http://www.comtonorcal.org/events.html

Applications must be postmarked no later than October 31st.
