The Alliance will recognize students promoting from: K-5 or K-6 elementary sites/middle or junior high school 8th graders/ and 12th grade graduating seniors. A Nominating Statement is required for each submission. Students must meet the nominating criteria and Grade Point Average in each category as shown in the award descriptions. In addition to giving recognition to students, we will also honor African-American community leaders with the LaVerne Owens Community Service Award and the Hank Hutchins Award. See our website for details.

This annual event is held to encourage student achievement, affirm the dignity of African-American students and to recognize the support of family and community in the lives of our children.
