Attention all students! The Social Security Administration – Office of Disability Adjudication & Review is now accepting applications for the summer FY10 Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP). Qualified and interested students are encouraged to apply by forwarding their resume to the contact information below.
Interviews are expected to start Thursday, May 13, 2010.
The STEP Program:
- The employment period is negotiable, usually once fingerprints clear a job offer can be made.
- The STEP position cannot exceed September 30, 2010.
- Student must be enrolled in at least 9 semester units with GPA at least 2.0 or full time student in High School. The student must be a bona fide degree-seeking student enrolled in or pursuing a degree from an accredited educational institution (will need copy of unofficial transcript).
- Applicants with disabilities are not subject to the financial need criteria.
- Student applicants who qualify, or whose families qualify, for a Federal, State or local public assistance program at the time of initial appointment or whose families qualify under the HHS poverty guidelines are to receive priority consideration or appointment under STEP.
- Students not meeting the financial need criteria may be considered for appointment when an insufficient number of applicant do not apply.
- The student may work in the same agency as a relative provided there is no direct reporting relationship and the relative is not in a position to influence or control the student’s appointment, employment, promotion or advancement within the agency. (5 CFR Part 310.)

This is an exciting opportunity for any student interested in gaining work experience in the marketing field. In this position, the Field Marketing Intern will work as a member of the SanDisk Retail Marketing team, which has responsibilities for developing and implementing innovative channel marketing programs and initiatives in the retail/channel markets. The Intern will also maintain a daily journal to be reviewed weekly by Field Marketing Manager and Director, Retail Sales. The Intern will visit retail stores (i.e. Walmart, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Walgreens, Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, and Photo Specialty stores) and target a number of stores to visit based on hours worked to monitor competitive activities to ensure SanDisk leadership, Cross train and merchandise; reach beyond the primary aisles – Networking, Business Delivery, Technology Departments, Geek Squads, Easy Tech, Build relationships with General Manager and retail staff working in the Imaging, Mobile, MP3, Gaming and Computing departments.
Qualifications: This position requires the student be a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student pursuing degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field. Must have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. This person must be able to work independently and manage his/her time well.
Student must be able to work 40 hours per week in the Summer and part-time during the school year (for the full internship)in the following locations:
Los Angeles, New York, Bay Area, Houston, Detroit, Washington DC, Phoenix, Dallas, Philidelphia, Seattle, Minneapolis, San Diego, St. Louis, Tampa, Baltimore, Denver, Miami and Pittsburg.
Targeted schools for the internships include but are not limited to: Boston College, University of Michigan, University of California – Los Angeles, University of Miami, University of Minnesota, Arizona State University, Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University, LaSalle University, Howard University and George Washington University.
